THE UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S CLUB OF TORONTO

FUNDRAISING

Raising Funds for Education and Community Enrichment

At the University Women’s Club of Toronto, we are dedicated to empowering women and enriching our community through education. As proud members of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Ontario Council, we support initiatives that advance the status of women and girls through education and advocacy.

To fund our scholarships and community programs, we rely on a combination of managed investments, fundraising events, and monetary donations.

We can’t do it without you.  Your support enables us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young women pursuing higher education.

FUNDRAISER FOR ROMERO HOUSE

In April 2025 we hosted a heartfelt and inspiring evening in support of Romero House, a sanctuary settlement house for refugees. The event was graced by the presence of Romero House’s founder Mary Jo Leddy.

The evening featured three stirring and heartfelt speeches that left a lasting impact on all who attended. Executive Director Francesca Aldi Ross spoke passionately about the ongoing mission and newest developments at Romero House. Maria Daniella, a former resident shared a moving personal story of heartbreak and resilience. Nancy Lam, our keynote speaker shared the memory of her mother’s journey and her commitment to inclusion for all highlighting the challenges newcomers face and the critical importance of advocacy and support.

Guests had the opportunity to bid on 35 enticing silent auction gifts with all proceeds supporting the work of Romero House. The night ended on a sweet note with a delicious dessert buffet.

This event was not only a fundraiser – it was a celebration of community, hope and the power of welcome. Thank you to all who contributed and attended making the evening such a success. Together we continue to build a home where strangers become neighbours.

Monetary Donations

The UWC (Toronto) Foundation is a registered charitable organization managed by a board of UWC Toronto members. It provides scholarships to outstanding young women graduating from central Toronto high schools and entering university.

In 2025 alone, the Foundation awarded $102,500 in 12 scholarships, to 12 exceptional young women —empowering them to take the next step in their academic journey.

This vital work is made possible through the generosity of our community:

  • The UWC Toronto Club contributes $50,000 annually
  • Club members donate an average of $25,000 per year
  • Additional donations from individuals and corporate partners help us grow our impact

All donations receive a charitable tax receipt.
